WHO WE ARE
TEDxPearlStreet is a catalyst for spreading ideas that inspire action and change our world.
TEDxPearlStreet is Washington DC's largest TEDx event, a platform for exceptional ideas, and a catalyst for change since 2019. We are a 100% volunteer-led non-profit organization.
Our mission is to spread ideas, build community, and change lives across the Washington DC metropolitan area, and the world. Throughout the year, our over 50 dedicated volunteers bring this mission to life through our flagship events and community programs.
Created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading," the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
OUR CORE VALUES
We're passionate about supporting bold ideas, building community, and inspiring action.
We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world; and and we actively participate in their spread.
We work to build and nurture strong communities by connecting people to ideas, and each other. We aim to create an impact in Washington DC.
We seek voices and ideas that reflect the diversity of Washington DC, and we provide safe spaces no matter their background or personal opinion.
We are expanding our understanding of the world through ideas, and are actively participating in their spread to make them more accessible.
We are not afraid to ignite the spark of an idea. We share what needs to be heard and we push the boundaries when it matters.
We show initiative and we are accountable to our community and to each other, and we are honest with ourselves on what we can handle.
MEET THE TEAM

x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized, subject to certain rules and regulations.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
